Life skills

Our Achieving Potential programme helps the Londoners we support build confidence, improve their mental health and well-being, and develop new skills and interests. It also helps build connections and fosters a sense of belonging in their community.

From art, music and sports to cooking, gardening and trips across the city, the activities we offer create a therapeutic space for self-expression and recovery. They spark hope and inspiration, laying the groundwork for our clients to rebuild their lives, gain independence and develop the opportunities to achieve their potential.

Art

Our ArtHouse programme introduces art to the people we support as a form of therapeutic, creative expression and as an opportunity to embark on the journey towards employment in the creative industries.

We develop and deliver bespoke art workshops and programmes facilitated by qualified artists and teachers, offering an ever-evolving range of mediums, projects and themes

Recent activities including mural making, clay work, mosaics, photography, printmaking, drawing, painting, collage, sewing, and drama.

We also build partnerships to increase access to some of London’s most renowned arts and cultural institutions such as the Tate Modern, Young Vic Theatre and Cass Art.

Sport

Getting people active improves their mental and physical health, reduces isolation, boosts overall wellbeing, and ultimately prolongs their lives.

Our Sport Project engages our clients with all sorts of activities that get bodies moving and create opportunities for socialising. We have something for everyone, from football, table tennis and boxing to more moderate activities like chair aerobics and yoga.

We also work with other organisations, sharing our expertise on how physical activity can improve quality of life. Click here to find out more about our practical toolkits.

Food & Cooking

Our Comeback Kitchen programme is all about developing practical kitchen skills, sharing a love of food and exploring careers in catering.

Participants complete a six-week programme in our commercial kitchen in Leyton. They earn a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate and an AQA-accredited Food and Catering certificate.

This covers food prep, meal planning, budget cooking, and stock control.

We prepare meals using surplus food donations from our partners, The Felix Project and Groundwork. We then hand them out to people in the community facing food poverty. This helps to reduce food waste and teaches clients how to turn cheap, available ingredients into delicious meals.

Music

Our SoundHouse project uses the power of music to open up creative expression, build social connections and create opportunities for our clients to perform and explore careers within the music industry.

Our team runs music sessions in professionally equipped studios and spaces. We also collaborate with external partners, helping our clients to experience and practice music across London.

Gardening

Spending quality time outdoors can have enormous benefits for mental wellbeing, personal development and recovery.

Our GreenHouse project gives the people we support access to green spaces, like our allotments and gardens. Our team creates fantastic opportunities to share practical gardening skills whilst tackling social isolation and building a real sense of community.

We help people to connect with nature, grow produce, and support their personal growth and recovery.
