Education, Training & Employment

We all know how life-changing a job can be, and that’s especially true for the Londoners we support. Getting a job can be a crucial step in leaving homelessness behind for good.

But with all the will in the world, landing a new job isn’t exactly a walk in the park – especially if you’ve experienced homelessness. From stigma to lack of experience, the Londoners we support face multiple barriers when seeking employment.

That’s where our employment support team comes in. We help with everything from CV writing and training courses to skills boosting and financial grants for an interview-worthy outfit. And we’ll keep checking in to ensure everything stays on track long after that first induction day.

Over 2,000 Londoners helped to pursue their employment, training, and education goals
Over 75% of our clients remain in their roles for the contract length or over six months

Our clients have landed job roles in a variety of sectors, from transport and construction to beauty, social care, security, and cleaning. And because of our approach, over 75% of our clients remain in their roles for the contract length or over six months.

How we support Londoners into work

Over the past year, we’ve helped over 2,000 Londoners pursue their employment, training, and education goals. This is how we do it:

  • Education and training: If someone is just starting their employment journey, we help them learn new skills, boost their confidence, complete accredited education or training courses, and access volunteering opportunities.
  • Careers: For those getting closer to landing a job, we provide tailored career coaching and job readiness support – think CV writing and interview practice – guiding them on their path toward independence.
  • Financial grants: Before you even step into an interview, you usually need things like training, ID, a mobile phone, travel funds, and the right outfit, which can be tough to afford. It’s not fair that these things hold people back, so we level the playing field and offer grants to cover these costs.
  • Digital inclusion: Many of our clients come from backgrounds that make it hard to access technology, leaving them digitally excluded. Having the right technology and skills is key for their independence and helps combat isolation. We run accredited digital skills courses to help our clients stay connected and give out refurbished laptops and smartphones, thanks to donations from our corporate partners and our own IT department.
  • Fostering connections with good employers: We collaborate with employers across London who share our values and truly understand our clients’ journeys, helping them secure meaningful employment. These brokered employers recognise and value our clients’ unique skills and experiences. We’re also proud to practice what we preach—today, at least 30 former clients are part of our team!

Everyone deserves the chance to pursue their career goals and to find employment in their chosen field.
