Learning & Development
Your personal and professional development is a priority at Single Homeless Project.
Our comprehensive Learning and Development programme is designed to support all our staff in developing the confidence, skills, and knowledge they need to successfully carry out their roles, whether they are working in client-facing services, in our central services teams, or in management.
Our training programmes are constantly developing, with new sessions designed to respond to staff’s evolving needs and a dynamic e-learning system.
I joined Single Homeless Project with little experience but a big passion for helping others. Thanks to the trainee programme, great training, and support from my managers, I grew from Trainee to Service Manager in just four years. Their guidance gave me the confidence to succeed every step of the way!
Training Opportunities
Whether you’re new to the sector or bringing experience with you, our brain-friendly approach to learning will support you on your development journey.
Each year, we run over 150 live training sessions, either online or face-to-face, developed and delivered by internal and external subject matter experts. Our eLearning system also has over 60 sector-specific courses to support your development, for example:
- Motivational Interviewing and Person Centred Support
- Introduction to Criminal Justice/Introduction to Criminal Justice for Young People’s Services
- Being and Empowering and Effective Manager
- Supporting People who use Substances
- Supporting People who hear Voices
- Understanding Personality Disorders and Complex Trauma
Our training is informed by Psychologically Informed principles, meaning that our approach is rooted in an understanding of the psychological and emotional well-being of individuals, particularly those with histories of complex trauma.
We are developing reflective practice across the organisation in order to better support our clients and build staff resilience in coping with the emotional impact of demanding work.
Career Development
We welcome staff who are new to the sector and who bring existing experience, and we have learning programmes to help you flourish in your role at SHP.
We are also committed to providing structured career pathways so that staff can realise their full potential and find opportunities for advancement within the Single Homeless Project.
Every role at Single Homeless Project has a tailored programme of learning and there are plenty of opportunities to develop skills through enrichment opportunities. For example:
