Lived Experience

Single Homeless Project was created when six homeless men teamed up to create change and shape what they knew would be a better solution to end rough sleeping in our city.

No one understands homelessness better than someone who has experienced it themselves. These experiences are powerful tools for helping us build a stronger, more inclusive community.

The personal experiences of the people we support remain at the heart of our work and continue to shape our approach today.

Peer mentoring connects those who have shared experiences of homelessness, substance use, or mental health challenges with others currently navigating similar issues.  This relationship creates mutual respect, judgement-free encouragement and guidance to support other Londoners with their recovery.

Co-production is collaborating directly with people who have experienced homelessness to inform, shape and improve our services and the way we work. Our clients’ voices also help us to influence and campaign on significant issues within the sector.
